Tannourine Reserve to Tannourine el Tahta Hike with Lebanese Outdoor Adventures LOA

Join us this Sunday for an exciting trail from Tannourine Cedar Reserve to Tannourine el Tahta, the Hermitage trail “Darb El Mahabes”

Tannourine, the plural of the Syriac word ‘tannour’, is an old stone oven used in ancient times. Its Nature Reserve, covering 12 square km, lies in a splendidly beautiful area and protects one of the largest and densest cedar forests in Lebanon. Our hike will begin at Tannourine Cedar Reserve, home to over 70 000 ancient cedar trees such as the Cedrus libani species, as well as a variety of pines, poplars, and other tree species (Cupressus, Pinus, Abies, Populus).

We will take the Hermitage trail “Darb El Mahabes” which begins at Tannourine Reserve’s main entrance, where we will take a path to the balcony with a panoramic view of the valley, and then we will walk the reserve trail number (3) along a narrow and a pleasant footpath within a charming landscape. We will then pass via “Fouwar” and the historical valley of “Ain El Raha,” which is notable for its historical hermitages, water springs, and agricultural fields, before finishing the hike in “Tannourine el Tahta.”
