Golden Rules for Participants

General Guidelines

  • Avoid Last-Minute Cancellations: Please refrain from canceling within 48 hours of the event.
  • Bring Necessary Documents: Ensure you have your insurance card and identification.
  • Leave No Trace: Adhere to Leave No Trace principles to reduce environmental impact. This includes taking all trash with you and minimizing disturbances to wildlife.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the event.
  • Follow Ecotourism Principles: Respect the environment and local communities.
  • Respect Your Guide: Always follow the instructions your guide provides.
  • Stay Behind the Leader: Do not overtake the guide during the hike.
  • Participate at Your Own Risk: Acknowledge that you are responsible for your safety.
  • No Smoking: Smoking is prohibited throughout the event.

Respect and Communication

  • Treat Others with Respect: Engage with fellow participants courteously, listen to differing opinions, and maintain a low noise level.
  • Health Disclosure: Inform us of any health conditions or limitations that may affect your participation.
  • Safety Briefings: Attend the safety briefing before each hike to understand the itinerary, potential hazards, and emergency procedures.

Event Specifics

  • Lunch Breaks: We may have a short lunch break if the schedule permits and if the majority agrees (for single or full-day events).
  • First-Time Participants: If you are new to hiking, please opt for low to moderate difficulty events (ideally under 8 km and with less than 300 m elevation gain).
  • Allergies and Medical Conditions: Notify us of any allergies (to insects, plants, etc.) or medical conditions we should be aware of.
  • Program Changes: Be prepared for slight or significant changes to the itinerary due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Participation in Setup: Participants are expected to assist with travel and camp setup as needed.

Ecotourism Guidelines

Environmental Responsibility

  • Avoid Littering: Dispose of waste only in designated bins and avoid littering in public areas.
  • Proper Waste Disposal: Always use trash bins for waste disposal.
  • Do Not Collect Flora or Fauna: Refrain from taking any plants or animals from the environment.
  • Be Mindful of Your Impact: Understand your physical capabilities and the potential risks associated with the trip.
  • Protect Natural Habitats: Avoid damaging plants, especially sensitive areas like moss beds or lichen-covered grounds.

Hiking Recommendations

  • Not Suitable For: Individuals with medical conditions or those who are unfamiliar with physical activities and have low endurance may find hiking challenging.
