Lebanese Outdoor Adventurers, Weekend of Camping, Hiking, Caving & Stargazing @ The 3 Farmers Campsite – Majdel Tarchich (Jabal el Fouwar, 1700 m)
Join LOA for a two-day escape into nature: camp under open skies, hike to golden-hour views, explore a sparkling cave, and watch the Perseid meteor shower at one of Lebanon’s most scenic high-altitude sites.

Saturday: Arrival, Sunset Hike & Perseid Stargazing
Arrive at The 3 Farmers, set up tents, and unwind. Set off on a moderate 5 km sunset hike for panoramic views and a lovely sunset mood. Return for a bonfire gathering and Perseid meteor shower stargazing. (The 2026 Perseids peak around 14–15 August under a New Moon, offering some of the best dark-sky conditions of the year; our high-altitude campsite (1700 m) will be ideal for meteor watching after midnight.) Musicians and acoustic players are welcome: bring your instrument to add a live, atmospheric layer to the night.
Sunday: Caving at Mgharet el Nejmeh (Fouar el Dara)
After a traditional Lebanese breakfast, we head to “Mgharet el Nejmeh” (Fouar el Dara cave) for a guided underground adventure. The cave extends 3.5 km and drops 628 m, featuring vast chambers, glittering rock formations, canyons, pits, and narrow crawlways. We’ll explore the accessible first section up to Howet el Dara (~260 m). The excursion includes a safety briefing, gear-up (helmets, headlamps, etc.), and about 2 hours underground. Some passages have water canals up to ~30 cm deep and can be slippery, so wear sturdy, water-resistant footwear and bring dry socks and shoes for after the cave. Expect sections of total darkness; your headlamp/flashlight is essential. Difficulty: moderate.
What to bring: Hiking shoes, Lightweight windproof jacket, Backpack & hiking poles, Headlamp/flashlight (+ spare batteries), Sleeping bag & personal pillow, Personal food & drinks for the camping night, 2 liters of water + healthy snacks for each activity, Dry socks and footwear for after caving, ID and personal insurance card.

Meeting point & transport: Meeting: Saturday 15 August 2026 at 2:30 pm, Jal el Dib, behind DHL, parking lot or preferably at the Camp Location starting from 3:30 by Personal cars.
Participation fee: 45 USD per person, including: Guides, Saturday sunset hike, Sunday caving experience, Sunday traditional Lebanese breakfast, but does not include transportation and medical insurance. Personal tents: 5 USD discount if you bring your own.
