Dear Lebanese Outdoor Adventurers (LOA), Join us for an exciting Camping, Hiking, and Caving weekend at The 3 Farmers camping site in Majdel Tarchich.
WHEN: Saturday, 24th of August & Sunday, 25th of August 2024.
SATURDAY: Once we arrive at the campsite, we will install our tents, unpack, and go for a moderate 5km sunset hike. (Level of difficulty: Moderate) After the hike, we will have a bonfire gathering. Should you have any acoustic or any other musical instrument that you master, please bring it with you to add some art to this unforgettable night.
SUNDAY: After our Lebanese traditional breakfast, We will enjoy a guided caving excursion inside “Mgharet el Nejmeh”. The Fouar el Dara cave is 3.5 km long and 628 meters underground, with gigantic chambers surrounded by glittering rocks, strange formations, deep canyons and pits, and tight crawlways. We will explore the first section of the cave up to Howet el Dara (around 260 meters). The cave’s remaining levels are inaccessible.
Our cave excursion will start with an introduction and a safety brief followed by getting equipped with essential gear such as helmets, headlamps, etc. We will then begin our 2-hour underground adventure. Although it will be a delightful experience, keep in mind that some sections inside may be slippery due to water canals with depths of up to 30 centimeters; therefore, we recommend appropriate footwear that is adequate for this adventure and can withstand water exposure. Parts of the cave will be enveloped in darkness. We recommend that all participants be prepared for the lack of light and rely on their flashlights to explore the cave. (Level of difficulty: Moderate)
To be prepared for this event, you will need Hiking shoes, a lightweight windproof jacket, a backpack, hiking sticks, a headlight, a sleeping bag, a personal pillow, Personal food, and Beverage for the camping night, Two Liters of water, and healthy snacks for each activity, dry socks and footwear for after caving, ID and personal insurance cards. Don’t forget your positive vibes J
