Join us this Sunday for a Colorful Autumn Trail from Kfarhay to Beit El Mejdel passing by Kaftoun along the walnuts river “Nahr El Jawz”.
Our hike will start in Kfarhay, where we will descend until we reach the Walnut River. It will be a pleasant walk under high, colorful trees all along the river banks. We will also enjoy the view of ancient bridges, old watermills, and Lemon groves. We will pass by the Monastery of Our Lady of Kaftoun and then take another path along another part of “Nahr el Jawz” that will lead us towards the village of Beit El Mejdel, where we will end our hike. The Trail will be diverse and colorful during this time of the year.
“Nahr el Jawz” springs from the depths of the Lebanese mountains and flows down to the Mediterranean, coming out between Batroun and the Hamath block. This river originates from two springs located in the Tannourine mountains. On the 24th of February 1998, the Environmental Minister listed “Nahr el Jawz” as a National and Historic Heritage site.
